We left Long Island of Friday of last week and started the 3 day trip home. We found a cool KOA campground outside of Washington DC to stay at that first night. That same evening, we went into Washington DC to see some of the memorials. Dave's brother had told us about some free parking near the Jefferson Memorial, so we drove into the city, found that free parking and walked around to see the memorials. That was so cool. It was a lovely evening and it was fun to see the memorials on the Mall. Lincoln Memorial was our first stop and that was one of our favorites. We also got to see the lovely World War II Memorial. It was new since Dave and I were last there. (Many years ago.) Then we walked up to see the Washington Monument and on over the White House to see Mr. Obama. OK, we didn't actually get to see the president (the kids kept asking when he was going to come out), but it was fun anyway. We walked back (pretty late by this time) to the Jefferson Memorial and to our car.

There are 50 columns around the outside of the WWII Memorial - honoring the men from each state which fought in the war. We got our picture taken with (appropriately) the Florida one. :)

What special, special memories and what precious times with each our dear family and friends. We are so thankful to the Lord for providing us safety and grace throughout the trip. THANK YOU LORD!
